About the Lansing Events Committee
The Lansing Events Committee (LEC) is comprised of the original founding members of
the Lansing Bicentennial Committee, which successfully organized the 2017
celebration, along with several new members. Following the success of that event, the
original team was invited to reconvene, ultimately forming the Lansing Events
Committee, Inc.; a 100% volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Our committee consists of a dedicated group of officers who collectively serve as our
Board of Directors. We work year-round to organize and host family-friendly events that
promote community engagement and foster a strong sense of local pride. Your support
is essential to our mission.
What We Do
The LEC regularly hosts community events such as chicken barbecues featuring
Hatfield Catering and fundraising raffles. We welcome opportunities to participate in
local events and are always eager to collaborate. If you're planning a community
gathering, we’d love to be involved!
We are actively seeking new members from the Lansing area who are passionate about
creating fun, inclusive, and meaningful experiences for families. Our meetings are held
on the second Wednesday of each month and typically last about an hour. All are
welcome to attend. To get involved, please click “Contact Us.”

LEC Mission Statement
Our annual Fall Community Celebration and Carnival is a highly anticipated event that brings the entire community together for a weekend of joy and connection. Featuring an exciting mix of thrilling rides, delicious fair food, live entertainment, and music, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. From the colorful parade and fireworks to the family-friendly activities scattered throughout the grounds, this celebration is a perfect way to make lasting memories with friends and loved ones.
We’re proud to support the annual Easter Egg Hunt organized by the Lansing Fire Department by contributing candy and treats for the event. In the spirit of the season, we also donate goodies to the local food pantry and the Blue Cabinets to help spread a little extra joy throughout the community.
We host the annual holiday tree lighting, a joyful celebration made possible through the generous contributions and spirited collaboration of our vibrant community.
The annual Lansing Car Show is a cherished tradition that brings together auto enthusiasts and families for a one-day celebration of horsepower, style, and community spirit. From enduring vintage classics to sleek, cutting-edge supercars, the show features an impressive lineup that’s sure to captivate visitors of all ages.
Guests can enjoy music, a variety of delicious offerings from local food vendors, and browse unique finds from area merchants and retailers. And of course, it wouldn’t be a LEC event without the ever-popular 50/50 raffle!
Whether you're a lifelong gearhead or simply looking for a fun day out, the Lansing Car Show offers the perfect blend of excitement and nostalgia.
We award a scholarship to a deserving Lansing senior, support youth sports through the Recreation Department, and help local kids enjoy the Moore Pumpkin Fest in partnership with the Lansing Food Pantry.
Do you have questions or comments about the event? Do you need special accommodations? Send us a message, and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission to make Lansing a better and more fun place for all.
Jeff Oplinger, a member of the Lansing Fire Department, has consistently
demonstrated exceptional commitment and reliability. Whether assisting with heavy lifting, coordinating logistics, preparing meals for the
department, or helping with tent setup, Jeff is always ready to lend a hand.
John Hatfield, a dedicated community member and CEO of Wildlife Resolutions, plays a vital role in local events. Each year, he enthusiastically volunteers for the holiday tree lighting, generously providing both his time and equipment to help make the celebration a success. Beyond that, John has contributed to the annual fall parade and supported various other community activities and events.
Aidan Selover and Bianca Wemmer, siblings and children of committee member Mesa Munson, have been enthusiastic and reliable contributors to our community events. Aidan developed our LEC website, while Bianca has lent a helping hand at BBQs and proudly represented us in parades. You may have even spotted them in costume, whether Aidan as The Grinch at the tree lighting or Bianca as Merida during the community celebration. Their cheerful willingness to step in whenever needed is deeply appreciated.
Bristol and KC Rhoads, daughter and wife of committee member Darrell Rhoads, are active community members. Together, they built and set up a lemonade stand, where Bristol generously donated a large portion of her earnings to the LEC. KC has also played a key role in helping us streamline our BBQ events, no surprise, given that her dad is known as the “King of Chicken!”
Roger Marshall, a valued community member and our newest volunteer, is always ready to lend a hand, especially alongside his wife and committee member, Donna Marshall. Whether it's selling raffle tickets or hauling the heavy stuff, Roger is there with a smile. He also helped move and spread hay for the Easter Egg Hunt, among many other contributions. We’re so grateful for his energy and support!
Last, but by no means least, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to Dave Hatfield of Hatfield Catering. There’s truly no one more dedicated to supporting Lansing’s fundraisers. For the past eight years, Dave has generously handled every one of our BBQs. His selflessness and commitment are unmatched. Thank you, Dave, for everything you do, for us and for the entire town!
A quick shoutout to all of the additional volunteers who have helped us along the way
