About Us

The Lansing Events Committee is made up of the former members of the Lansing Bicentennial Committee that organized the 2017 event. It was such a success, that we were asked to regroup, from that, the new, 100% volunteer, 501 C3, non-profit, the Lansing Events Committee was formed. We are made up of a set of officers and combined we are a Board of Directors. Our group is working hard to bring you family friendly events that foster community involvement and spirit. We need your support! Any help in the way of volunteering or donations is truly appreciated. Our committee is always looking for Lansing residents that are interested in wholesome, fun family events, to be a part of our small group. We meet the second Wednesday of each month. The meetings last about an hour. We host chicken BBQ's, featuring Hatfield Catering, as well as fundraiser raffles, we would love to set up at your event, and will gladly accept any donation. Any donations we receive are used towards the Lansing Recreation scholarships as as well as our Lansing High School Scholarships that we give for seniors. Remember, your donation is tax deductible!

Thank You, Volunteers!

Exemplary Volunteers: The LEC would also like to thank our loyal volunteers that always come out and give us a hand no matter what; the ones who we don’t have to ask!

Phil Nolan, community member, who has helped since the beginning, at the BBQs, digging out and setting up the stage and tents, moving tables, etc. Phil even stepped-up in a very JOLLY way at the tree lighting this past year!

Jeff Oplinger, a member of the Lansing Fire Department, has been a workhorse for us; always helping with the heavy lifting, moving, cooking for the LFD, and assisting us with the setup of the tents; anything at all we need from him, he’s there!

TJ Munson, community member and husband to committee member, Mesa Munson, what HASN’T he done?! The BOBCAT, and the Easter Bunny are probably his biggest claims to fame; in general TJ is such a smiley, friendly guy to deal with! He happily volunteers for the dunking booth, BBQ events, and anything else we ask of him!

Aidan Selover and Bianca Wemmer, siblings and the children of committee member, Mesa Munson. Aidan built our LEC website, spread hay at the Easter Egg hunt, and assisted with various other activities. Bianca has helped out with BBQs and walked with us during our parades. They’re always willing to lend a hand when called upon!

Bristol and KC Rhoads, community members, daughter and wife to committee member, Darrell Rhoads, respectively. Bristol and KC built and setup a lemonade stand where Bristol donated a large portion of her earnings to the LEC. KC, of course, has helped us streamline our BBQ events since her dad is the “KING of chicken!”

Roger Marshall, community member and our newest volunteer, is always willing to help out his wife and committee member Donna Marshall, selling raffle tickets and carrying the heavy stuff for us. Roger also moved and spread hay for the Easter Egg hunt, and much more!

Last, but certainly not least, we have to give a HUGE shout out to Dave Hatfield, of Hatfield Catering. I don’t know any other person who devotes so much of their time to help out all of the fundraisers in the town of Lansing. Dave has done every one of our BBQs for the last 5 years. He is selfless and dedicated. Thank you, Dave, for all that you do, for us and the tow

Shoutouts

A quick shoutout to all of the additional volunteers who have helped us along the way
